I’m a middle-class, white, anglophone. I don’t get any privileges.
(In reference to scholarships and awards)

Kinda has a point though

There are a lot of people who make too much money for scholarships for actual financial aid, but not enough to send their kids to school without help. My family is roughly middle class so I’m in the same boat and all my financial aid is loans to pay for housing and books. The only advantage I get is that my dad was a veteran, so tuition is waived as long as I attend Californian colleges.

People on the extreme rich side are accounted for by their own money. People on the extreme poor side are given more financial aid opportunities, especially with scholarships that specifically target lower class families. People in the middle are basically told, “We’ll give you money, but remember to pay it back and that’s pretty much your only option unless you wanna try for this small pool of scholarships you fit into and MAYBE get one or you can even pay for it yourself. And…yeah. That’s about it.”

you know what’s fucked up?

that you can be without someone for six months, a year, five years and have mastered not thinking about them, but no matter how much time passes there will always be that moment where you see a photo of them or catch a little of their cologne on a crowed street and suddenly you’re plagued with a rapidly sinking stomach and the relentless question, “what did i do wrong?”

well fuck
